Our focus on this installment of the podcast show is on Spillage Fete, a label that is run collectively by Mat Fowler, Kevin Cormack, and Matt Hunt of the group Bons, along with visual artist, Aimee Henderson. Spillage Fete grew out of some earlier cassette-focused art and music events that the members curated dating back over a decade ago now under the name The Blank Tape Spillage Fete and has since morphed into a small-scale, multimedia label that publishes the various solo and collaborative efforts of its core members, including Fowler and Cormack’s Jam Money project. I recently had a chance to speak with Fowler, Cormack, and Hunt together over a slightly choppy Facetime connection, but I’m pleased to say that we came away with a rather illuminating and worthwhile conversation that you’ll be able to hear quite clearly throughout this show. We discuss the beginnings of Spillage Fete, the collaborative aspects of the label and various in-house projects, and some of the music that has inspired these guys over the years. They were also kind enough to send along a bunch of unreleased and forthcoming material from the Spillage Fete ranks, which you’ll hear in a few different blocks of music during the show.
