Our focus for this installment of the podcast is on Longform Editions, a relatively new series devoted to extended pieces of exploratory, expansive, and immersive music from around the world. Longform Editions is co-run by Andrew Khedoori and visual artist, Mark Gowing, who have also operated the excellent Preservation label out of Sydney, Australia for over 15 years. With Longform Editions, the two are moving away from the traditional independent label operations and tactics towards what they’ve termed “A Collective for Deep Listening” that functions more as a space for discovery.
On this installment, you’ll hear my recent interview with Andrew Khedoori where we discuss some of the motivations and guiding principles behind Longform Editions. We also discuss Andrew’s work in radio and how that has shaped his ideas on curation, and we discuss some of the artists and releases that have been a part of the series so far, including the brand new set of works that just came out to coincide with World Listening Day. To try to stay true to the ideals of the series, I’ve included longer excerpts of several of the pieces that they have released, which you will hear throughout the show. I hope you enjoy this new episode. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or comments. As always, thanks for looking and listening.
