On this installment of the podcast, I had Stefan Christensen join me in the studio after performing in Mankato the night before. Stefan has been an active member of the New Haven, Connecticut underground music community for years, being involved in numerous bands, the best-known perhaps his group, Estrogen Highs. Since that group disbanded in 2015, Stefan has gone on to record several solo releases that have appeared on notable underground imprints like Ever/Never, Loki, I Dischi Del Barone, and his very own C/Site Recordings. Stefan’s solo work strikes a nice balance between free noise overload and downcast singer-songwriter material, all informed by a distinctly DIY, home-recording sensibility. Stefan performed a live in-studio session and then hung out for a bit to discuss his solo work, his label, and some of the other things happening with his New Haven crew that he works closely with. We also played a bunch of music throughout that tied-in to what we discussed. Stefan is out on the road touring right now, and I’d encourage you to go out a see him if he’s in your area. I hope you enjoy this episode. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or comments. As always, thanks for looking and listening.
