On this installment, we spotlight the work of the Oakland-based label and mailorder outlet, Digital Regress. In its roughly five years of operation, Digital Regress has moved from initially documenting some of the arty, DIY punk activity taking place in the Bay Area to reissuing some lesser known classics from the New Zealand underground. Digital Regress also stocks a small selection of mailorder titles that branches out into various areas of post-punk, industrial, and other experimental and fringe sounds. I recently had a chance to speak with Ronnie Portugal, the sole owner and operator of Digital Regress. We discussed some of the background of the label and some the broader challenges that artists and labels are facing right now. You’ll hear that interview throughout the show, along with a broad selection of tracks from the Digital Regress catalog and later in the show from some releases by artists and labels that Ronnie has stocked in his mailorder section that have captured his attention in the past year. I hope you enjoy this new episode. Feel free to get in touch if you have any comments or questions. As always, thanks for looking and listening.
