On this installment of the podcast, I dig into the work of the Chicago-based independent label, Trouble In Mind Records. Started in 2009 by the husband-and-wife team of Bill and Lisa Roe as their band Cococoma was starting to wind down activities, Trouble In Mind has evolved from a 7” single-only imprint into one of the finest purveyors of a broad range of underground rock and pop music, having issued releases by numerous favorites of the show including David Nance, Mountain Movers, Dick Diver, and countless others. It’s a label that, in my humble opinion, has released some of the more interesting guitar-centric music in recent memory. This past week, I had a chance to speak with Bill and Lisa about the label’s past, present, and future activities and about some of the considerations that have gone into running Trouble In Mind for over a decade. You’ll hear that interview broken up into a few different segments throughout the show. In addition to that, you’ll hear a bunch of music from the Trouble in Mind catalog too, focusing pretty heavily on releases from the past few years and including some forthcoming material. Hope you enjoy this episode. Feel free to get in touch if you have any comments or questions. As always, thanks for looking and listening.
