On this installment of the podcast, I dig into the work of the London-based record label, Horn of Plenty. In 2013, Nick Hamilton started up a small imprint called Vittelli after years of working in and around record shops and distributors. After a pair of releases, Vittelli would dissolve and eventually morph into what is now Horn of Plenty, a label that reflects Hamilton’s interests in fringe music with a distinctive DIY and avant edge to it. I recently had a chance to chat with Nick about a range of topics including his formative years of discovering fringe sounds, his friendship with the late Ian Rawes of the London Sound Survey, his inspiration for starting up a record label of his own, and his appreciation for brick and mortar record shops. You’ll hear that interview spread out in segments throughout the show, and you’ll also hear track selections from almost every release that Nick has put out on both Vittelli and Horn of Plenty to date, including a few forthcoming releases that are due out in the next month or so.
