On this episode of the podcast, I delve into the work of Kitchen Leg Records, which, according to their website is “a half Canadian/half Italian tape label based in Berlin, inspired by d.i.y., collages, dada, zines, mail-art, Minutemen’s econo-aesthetic and philosophy, riot grrrls, punk and more.” The label releases limited runs of tapes that are all home-dubbed and adorned with handmade, collage cover art. 

Kitchen Leg has been active for a decade now. In fact, the week that this episode was being produced, the label was celebrating its 10th anniversary with a two-night, label showcase in Berlin. Having been a fan of what Kitchen Leg has been up to for many years, this made for a good reason to reach out and connect with partners, Andrew and Federica – the aforementioned Canadian and Italian halves behind the label – to discuss some of the motivations and history behind Kitchen Leg and also some of their own various musical projects that they have been involved in over the years too. You’ll hear my interview with them in a few different segments throughout the show, along with a track selection that covers a pretty significant portion of the releases in the Kitchen Leg catalog.
