For the fifth consecutive summer, our pal Chris Berry of Minneapolis-based Soft Abuse Records joined us in the studio to spin some records from his vast collection and to talk a little shop about his label activities. This time around it included discussion of Fruits & Flowers, a new label he recently started up with Glenn Donaldson of Skygreen Leopards/Jewelled Antler et al. fame. We also carved out some time to discuss the Old Familiar Chime festival that Chris has had a hand in organizing at the Turf Club in St. Paul for Friday, September 19. This event is focused on singular guitarists that span several generations, featuring an impressive line-up that includes the likes of Glenn Jones, Bill Orcutt, Michael Chapman, Steve Gunn, Alexander Turnquist, Matthew De Gennaro, and Spider John Koerner. Please check out the following links for more information: Soft Abuse, Fruits & Flowers, Old Familiar Chime. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or comments.
