For this installment of the podcast show, I was pleased to have Lee Noble join me in the studio. Noble has been putting out solo material since 2010, around the same time that the podcast started, so I’ve actually played several of his releases on the show over the years. His music hovers in that sweet spot between hazy abstraction and hypnotic songcraft. In addition to creating his own music, Noble also helped co-run the No Kings label with Stephen Molyneux, issuing works from several notable artists such as Sparkling Wide Pressure, Ekin Fil, Je Suis Le Petit Chevalier, Derek Rogers, Motion Sickness of Time Travel and many more. Noble’s graphic design work helped No Kings establish a very striking and unique visual presence within the whole cassette underground. When I learned that Noble recently re-located from Los Angeles to the Twin Cities area here in Minnesota, I thought he would be a great guest to have on the show. In spite of the snow and frigid temperature, Lee was able to make it down to Mankato to do a short performance and hang out to discuss his music and his work with No Kings. He also brought along a stash of No Kings tapes and other records to play. As mentioned during the show, Lee will be participating in the Drone Not Drones event taking place in Minneapolis on January 26-27th, and he’ll then be heading out on a mini-tour of Japan during the month of February. Get out and see him perform if you can. I hope you enjoy this new episode. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or comments. As always, thanks for looking and listening.
