With our work schedules a little more flexible during the summer months, we’ve been able to make it up to the KMSU studios to do the Thursday show live over the past couple of weeks. We’re hoping to continue that in the weeks ahead, too. For those who have been tuning in, you probably heard us mention the Mankato Music Expo that is taking place on Saturday, June 25th at the Mankato Brewery. Carl and I, along with another dozen or so record collectors, will be selling LPs, CDs, and other musical ephemera from 10-5. While perusing the goods, you can grab a few pints from the tap room and take in a wide range of sounds from the different DJ’s that will be spinning records throughout the day, including KMSU’s Shelley Pierce from Shuffle Function, Jameson Sweiger from The Variety Pack and, er, me from Free Form Freakout, along with close pals DJ Shoba, Chris Berry of Soft Abuse Records, and Minneapolis collector Bryan Davis. After the record show you can go home and listen to a couple of your purchases – maybe that Herb Alpert album you’ve always wanted – while you freshen up for the nighttime festivities back at the Brewery starting at 7:00 that includes live performances from Good Night Gold Dust, The Frye, Bee Balm Fields. It’s going to be a good time. Hope to see some of you there.
