No need to take up too much space here to dwell on events from the past six weeks; it’s been an emotional roller coaster ride to say the least, and we’re happy to view some of this in the rear view mirror at this point. We are going to move forward, though, with an outlook and approach that mirrors what artist and writer Nate Wooley so eloquently detailed in an open letter that he recently posted on his Sound American website, which we encourage you to read in full. He writes that he will be:
Putting energy toward celebrating models of free-thinking and risk-taking artists; toward conversation, inclusion, and debate rather than rhetoric, name-calling, and division is honest and feels right to me. So, it is what I will do until I can do it no longer. It is not the sexiest path, but it is mine and I believe in it.
