KMSU’s annual Spring Pledge Drive kicks off this Wednesday, April 17th and runs through Friday, April 26th. This is one of only two times during the course of the year where we reach out to ask for your generous support to help keep KMSU on the air. The station has a whopping goal this time around of raising $45,000, the largest amount we’ve stared down since being involved in the station for over 14 years now. This isn’t some attempted greedy grab that we’re after either; there are very tangible and pragmatic things happening to strengthen KMSU’s presence and mission within southern MN and beyond. For example, there are plans to remount the KMSU antenna to the tune of $5,000 to broaden our broadcast reach to the north of Mankato, something we’ve been desperately in need of for awhile. Likewise, a new satellite studio is being constructed at the Arts Center of St. Peter that will not only provide easier access for our many St. Peter-based volunteers, but it will also allow for many interesting programming collaborations to take place with the Arts Center of St. Peter. Heck, this is where our “An Evening of Experimental & Improvised Sound” event happens each year, so imagine the possibility of broadcasting these events live or doing other exclusive recordings with the artists we feature on the show. Again, this is an exciting development that increases the scope of what KMSU can offer and how it engages with our local community.
As usual, KMSU has some great swag to offer at various pledge levels, including t-shirts, hats, Day Sponsorships, and a fantastic box set from The Staple Singers. We here at Free Form Freakout will also be offering our own exclusive premiums that you can get either by pledging during our regular 2:00 p.m. (CST) time slot shows on Thursday, April 18th and 25th, or by contacting us directly. We have been stockpiling a bunch of LPs that we’d love to give away to those that make a donation to KMSU. So, here’s the deal: $30 will get you one LP, and $50 will get you two LPs. All donations will also come with additional goodies like tapes, CDs, stickers, download codes, and zines. No, we’re not telling you all of the titles that we have on hand (though some are pictured above), but trust us: we hope to make this a fun, surprising, and worthwhile way to thank you for supporting KMSU.
If you’d like to take part in this, you can reach the station by calling 507-389-5678 or 1-800-456-7810 and let those taking your call know that you’d like the Free Form Freakout LP bundle and at which amount. You can also get in touch with us directly at fffreakout@hotmail.com to arrange something as well. If you’d like to make a donation for anything else, you can do so directly online too. Thanks for your consideration and support.
